That I'm taking off or that I have off?  I get 2 days for Christmas and I have a couple more to use before the end of the year.  I also get a day for New Year's Day.

Technically, mothers never have the day off! But my husband started a new job this year and he gets the two days before the holiday, and the week after Christmas.

We get a week off, 2 days in lieu of Christmas/Boxing Day, 1 day in lieu New Year's day, 1 day we have to take from our vacation, and 1 floater day. It's great. Although, when I worked at a university I used to get at least 2 weeks off.

Peculiarly, when I was younger I would work over Christmas and New Year to get the extra payments it brought and also the time off en lieu.

Now, I try and get away as much as possible and have as many days going.

I work in the operating room and am lucky to have Christmas Eve and Christmas off this year. I am working New Years Eve and New Years Day. I have to work in the operating room, for probably 12 or 13 hours on Friday the 31st and then I'm on call from 7am Saturday morning through 7am Monday morning, day and night for both Obstetrics and the Operating Room. It's a pretty grueling schedule this time of year. I'm gonna start 2011 as a very exhausted person.

Days off?  What are those?  I am currently in Afghanistan and although I just had an excellent meal at the dining facility, today was a work day for me.  Merry Christmas!

Christmas day is a statutory holiday in Canada so, by law, a person has to be given the day off or a day in lieu.  Most people get only one day off but unionized people often get more.

I'm retired so every day is a day off.  I try to keep busy painting and writing and working on my various web sites.  I'm cooking a turkey for Christmas to amuse myself.  I live alone so it should be a turkey week for me.

http://www.statutoryholidays.com/ontario.php   Actually in Canada it's not the law to give xmas off, most employers do but really only federal employees are required to give the day off check the link it's the official site.

Can change a bit depending on when exactly the holiday falls.  Usually Christmas day proper, sometiems Christmas eve... then a bit at New Years.
